I've exclusively used wood chips, never chunks. My Landmann 38 Great Smokey Mountain is working great with chips, but can anyone weigh in on the wisdom of using chunks of cherry or hickory or other woods ? I would seem to me (newbie) that the chunks might be more long lasting and efficient, and perhaps more even. Help please?

I now have a pellet smoker and use that. I still have my propane vertical and switched to chunks almost immediately after I started using it.

They lasted longer, gave more smoke and more flavor in my opinion. Just my $.02.
