Hello  Stuart.  Welcome.  I see this is your first post.  Please take some time and swing over to Roll Call and introduce yourself so that we may give you a proper "Hello".  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  As for your question:  the answer is YES!  There are too many variables to offer advice.  What experience do you have?  Where do you live?  What do you plan to do with the smoker; burgers, chicken legs, brisket, smoke your own bacon and hams, make a little jerky, make and smoke your own sausage, etc., etc., etc..  Each of your choices above will work well for most of these but not all.  Your experience also has to be considered, but we don't know that.  Good luck.

Danny

What I prefer depends on my mood that day :)
do I want to grill off something quick or babysit for a few hours?
Fortunately, I have options, but I digress.
You linked to a Traeger, so I would suggest you compare those to a Lousiana Grill, or Green Mountain. For a couple hundred $$ more you could get a Yoder that would be much better quality. In that same price range is the Englander pellet grill, designed by Fast Eddy. I have one of his stainless models manufactured by Cookshack and I have yet to find something I can't cook on it.
