Hey guys. I have a master forge vertical gasser. I fill the chip box to the top or slightly heaped, wrap tight in foil and punch a dozen or so holes in it. It never flares up and works well for me. Amnps would be nice, but not right now. My question is when to change them. Do I let them go until white ash or pull them sooner. I've pulled after an hour, and they are black but still a little smoke.heres my chip holder.

I change my wood out when it stops smoking thin and blue. I am a charcoal smoker though and that stuff is real good charcoal after it gives all it can give. Even chips. I save them in a bucket for my next cook. I don't see any reason why in a gasser you shouldn't just let them go until ash though. Unless they flare up at the end like my old homemade gas smoker did when I had it.
