They were very very good!  The 24 hr brine brought a whole new subtle sweet, deep & savory pork flavor to the meat.. I'm very picky with sweet foods and this was absolutely wonderful. I didn't even sauce them at all, no need! They were juicy and lean.

I will have to try these on spairs & BB's now.

Here's to meat & potatos! & zuchini & baby squash..

Not only a great post, not only a great recipe, great Qview!

Thanks Disco! This was my first round with a pop brine but after the results, I'll give it another go for sure.

I'm constantly reminded that there are usually side dishes with most meals... not just the meat course.. She said I did much better on this dinner.

Tasty looking plate there! Love using those mini squash!
First time cooking the mini's for me and yes they were really tasty! I just quickly sauteed them in a little hot EVOO, salt & pepper. Very fresh tasting.

I'm in as well.. always wanted to try the cola route.. but I'm a Dr Pepper guy. Is it just a Coke product that's always used... ? never really looked In to it..
Honestly, when I rarely drink pop it's Dr Pepper but I was too lazy to drive a few more miles to the grocery store and Walgreen's only had generic cherry coke. I doubt it would have made a difference BUT DR P does have 32 flavors so I may be wrong. Next time I'll try DR P.

I always like to try and add onto my original threads with leftover meal recipes or ideas for the next day. Great recipes & threads should have a follow up for the leftovers, right?!!

What do you do with your leftovers?  Leftovers, (such a hurtful name) can be better then the original!

Pork Rib Grilled Stuffed Burrito!  (add eggs for breakfast)

Sliced up the CSR's, thinly.

Tossed in a hot pan.

Added some chopped green onions on the side.

Added some string cheese on top of the meat.

Scooped in some spicy green chili on the other side.

Warmed my tortilla in the wave for 14 seconds, added the rest, rolled up, washed the pan, reheated quickly and seared each side for 20 seconds.

Added homemade canned salsa and some sour cream..

YUM!!!

Nice burrito.... I love left overs.... as much as the original... but Ido love the..quick.. cheap.. left over throw together and its ALWAYS just as good.

Nice looking meal. A while back I soaked 3 racks of spares in rootbeer for 18 hrs or so. Then patted dry and added my rub. They were good an people seemed to like them. Just  to sweet for me and the wife. Though it did bring in another level of flavor.

Ok I've got my csr's soaking up some cherry coke. Plan to cook them tomorrow. If I read correctly, was your total cook time 4hrs and 20 minutes? I know that they are done at 180 but trying to get a ball park on how long they will need to cook so I can have them done around a certain time.

Thanks,

Depending on the amount / weight of your csr's, just stick to 180 IT and they'll be great. They can dry out a bit around that temp, depending on the butchers cut, so be careful and depending on what you prefer, foil earlier or pull off earlier. Next time I do them I'll foil then about a 1/2 hr earlier or so and add some juice / stock to infuse some moisture back into them.. It really depends on what you're looking for for a final product.

My girlfriend loves ribs but doesn't like the fat (surprise) so I like to cook them longer then usual and foil my ribs with some juice for an hour or so to push the juices back in..

Let me know how it goes!!

I used to soak pork loin slices in just plain coke with pineapple slices. Doesnt worked pretty good a little sweet flavor but not overwhelming. Never had a smoker back then either and never thought about cherry coke lol but will definitely give this a shot on the smoker the qview looks amazing

I've got the csr's in the smoker. They got stuck at 161 for about 45 minutes so I decided to go ahead and wrap them. I've been maintaining a tempt of 225 and they were really black and shrunk a good bit. I put squeeze butter and apple juice in the foil with them. We will see.

I agree! I'm a big fan of about anything wrapped in a tortilla with melted cheese and hot sauce.

Thanks! I take way too many pictures of my food...

Well? How'd they turn out! ?

Flavor was a 7 out of 10. They were tough and dry though. Pulled them at 179 IT. Not sure what I did wrong. Also they were solid black. Not burnt but black.

That's what I was thinking. A couple of my my csr's that had bones sticking out got pretty black as well.

It seems with the soda soak that you need to keep an eye on them after a few hours to make sure they don't blacken like that. Foil them earlier then expected.

I'll try them again in the future and update this post. 'moses', please do the same if you smoke them again.

I'm doing cherry dr pepper chicken quarters this Sunday unless I get some negative feed back on here. Chicken quarters are cheap so I won't be loosing anything really. I will post the results.
