The "Show Me" state
Put on a turkey for sammies. Mrs Rivet baking bread inside and the kids and I am smoking outside. We decided on a cherry-blast theme...

Gonna fill this baby with cherries, spritz her with cherry juice and smoke her over cherry-wood~

A bit of CBP on the top and half a bag of sweet dark cherries inside-

Also in with the bird was a Bloomin' SPAM and 4 Pterodactyl Eggs. No pics of the eggs going in and they were eaten before I could get pics of them out!

TBS'ing at 325F over cherry wood...smells mighty fine!

Finally she's done- 185 F thigh internal, 195 F breast. The cherry juice spritz smellled good, though Mrs Rivet preferred the Cranberry Juice spritz from the last bird 'cause she liked that color it gave the turkey better-

Another shot of the finished bird. Crispy skin and oh so tasty!

Sliced to show the breast meat-

And the fresh baked yeast bread Mrs Rivet made for the lunchtime/dinnertime sammies.

Thanks for enjoying my pics!

Great looking bird Rivet, love the crispy skin. Kids sure are having some fine smoke, want to adopt me?
Mrs. Rivet bakes up some beautiful bread. Wish I had baking skills like that.

Nice looking bird. I have been using a lot of cherries and cherry juice lately. Definately a nice flavor. Looks great as usual Rivet.

Wow - that's a really nice bird ya smoked there, and the bread loaves .... can I have one, please??

I always use 100% cherry juice as my spritz and love the color it provides to poultry and ribs. Such a rich, dark, deep color!!

Mom is in Springfield for the next week or so, I bet she smelled that smoke!! Beautiful smoke!

good looking thunder chicken there. A nice turkey samich on homemade bread, thats sound great. Its a good thing I am full from lunch or that would have made me really hungry. points to you sir.

Wutang, Scmelik~ thanks for the good words, I appreciate oyu checking out my smokes.

Laurel, heck tell her to stop by! How long is she in Springfield for? I'll take a day off and we'll feast! Daggone what an opportunity....

BigBald...the spam didn't last 10 minutes with two kids 15 and 14 years old! in the time I spritzed the bird, put in some wood, futzed around doing what I needed to do and then got the camera there was about 3 "riblets" left of the entire spam and all the pterodactyl eggs were gone. Nothing but ancient-looking eggshells.

You have to try this stuff to understand, man...it's good.

Hey all, thanks for the messages

May the TBS follow you all wherever you go.

Ok, all this talk about how great pterodactyl eggs are you've convinced me.
Doing up a few chicken legs later over cherry so I'm going to toss a few eggs in and see what's doing, I can't resist any longer.
Just curious, ever try smoking a raw egg?

*Nevermind, I just now came across the thread Dawn did with her eggs.
Guess that answers that
