I love my fatboy, but the door leaked smoke and heat like a sieve. I was considering some other ideas posted, but the fine salesman at a local bbq supply store said I should try the felt from the green egg lid seal. They sold it by the roll. Just cut to the size you need, it's self adhesive, and designed to resist high heat.

Five minutes of work, and you can see how the access door doesn't leak any smoke. Because of the lid sizing issue with the double chef, the lid will continue to leak but at least it's at the top after it's had a chance to kiss the meat.

thanks for the tip

i have this same smoker and having trouble with the minion method. every time i do it the coals get set completely ablaze way too quickly and the temperature spikes. did you have this problem prior to sealing the door, and if so, did this remedy it?

I used fiberglass rope gasket to seal up my SNP smoke chamber. I used high temp silicon to stick it on. You can buy this rope in 25 foot lengths from your local FW Webb or Bell Simons or any HVAC supply house. I am an HVAC/R tech by trade, so I had a bunch on hand.
