I found a Chargriller with side fire bax on Craig's. From the guy's description I have deducted it is model Smokin Pro #1224. He said he bought it for about $150.00 a couple years ago.

This seems to be the only side fire box model that fits the description.

Anybody have any experience (dumb question here huh?) with this model? Thanks!

I've run several thousand pounds of meat through one of those. They're great for the money. While I have several different smokers now, I still have and use the Chargriller model you're showing. How much are they wanting for it?

Be sure to inspect it for rust and neglect. The metal isn't very thick on them.

He is asking 75 or best offer. Says he only used it about 4 times. I will be down in his area next week so maybe I'll swing by. If it's ok I would at least try to get him down to 50

I would be on the look out for a better offset if it were me. Try and find one with 1/4" metal, then you'll be set. It might take some time but the payoff will certainly be worth it.

Now you will pay over $200 for it. They are sold at lowes if you want to see a new one to compare to it. In my opinion it is well worth what he is asking and if it is good condition, probably more. Unless you plan on using it for target practice and dont want the bullets to go through it, the thickness of the steel is fine. You wont find anything any thicker for less than $500 new. It is a fine smoker. If you look on my profile and find the threads that I have started there is a thread with the mods I made to mine. Maybe you can get some ideas.
I say its a go!

We love ours, to the piont that we are looking to get a second one. We have done mods to get it to cook well, We have used ours for many catering events and competions, it is light enough so I can load it in the truck by myself. My older New Braunfels was too heavy to pick up alone and load. The chargriller has alot of cooking area and does a great job with a few mods. I paid $150 3 years ago for mine. so $75 is not too bad. Besides I just traveled 900 miles round trip to pick up a New Bruanfels off set that was 12 years old (it was made just before they went to char broil) It sort of looks like it was made from spare grill parts. If you get it for $50 go for it. IMHO.

Smoking on it right now!

Paid about $250 for it a few months ago at Lowe's. $75 seems like a steal to me. Buy it and bang out a few mods (lower the chimney, make a baffle, and fabricate a grate for the firebox) and you're good to go!

I agree. Many times I find that it isn't big enough to fit my plans, but that's really my ownly complaint. For the general smoke, it is more than fine. If you seal it up, it will run very efficient (I have a 7 1/2 pork loin in mine right now). I'd try to get him down to $50, though.
