Hey all, here ia my 1941 Westinghouse fridge. Was non-functional when I bought it for $50 from a local used appliance shop. It's going to be charcoal fired with firebox in the bottom. I want multiple rack options for ribs, butts, turkey etc. I dont do sausage or game, but, cold smkoking cheese with just a smoke generator is an option too.

Inside before construction. It's not that big inside, but should be decent sized for around the house.

Bottom access off with angle iron brace across the bottom. Fire box fabbed up from 11 gauge. Welded inside and out.

Insulation going in, Roxul. There is about 6" between the firebox and cook chamber, 3.5" everywhere else.

Stripped out inside, also lined with Roxul. That enameled steel is TOUGH! Drilling holes for shelves and cutting opening for the firebox ate up the bits and blades. Finally resorted to carbide tipped drill bit and the cut off wheel

In that pic, you can see the inlet from the firebox and the deflector /grease catch, as well as the rebar and expanded steel shelves.

  18. Nice job, I have one like this my sister wants built for her. Love how the fire box is made.
