Hello All,
I'm still a novice at the smoking thing and had a couple of incidents last year where I left the smoker only to return with flare up. After speaking with some people I realized that I need to pay closer attention to the 1) temp of the day 2) wind or lack there of 3) and making sure to keep the dampers open about half way near the bottom(it was one suggested to keep them close to raise the temp). It was also suggested to look into a cast iron wood box and or raise the wood box as high as I can get it in the chamber of the smoker itself.
I was just wondering has anyone repalced the wood box that was provided with the smoker for a cast iron one to help with flare ups? If so which one did you get and where? Did you have to mod it at all to fit in the unit?
Im just trying to avoid this from happening again with the Spring coming along! Thanks in advance for any/all advice on this topic.
