I have an AMNPS and started working on a cardboard box build to cold smoke some bacon and cheese until I can build a small smokehouse.

My question is whether it will be okay to use packing tape or 100mph tape to seal up the box?

I plan to have the AMNPS set up in some type of mailbox mod and the smoke ought to travel through that cardboard tube (32" long by 3.5" diameter) into the curing box so the smoke will be cool (I hope)

The smokestack is just the roll from a paper towel.

What improvements should make to this? I don't have a glue gun for sealing the holes. I figured I could tape around them.

Thanks for looking

Those were the inspiration for building it. I read through those and saw some folks using aluminum tape, so I wanted to check just in case about using some other kind. Thanks again!

Hi Mike, I was going to say tape, but you've moved on and completed it.

Looks good for a temporary cold smoker.

Are you going to use the "Mailbox" when you build a smokehouse, or are you going to use something else?

Danny has a hot plate for me for a heat source but I'm going to keep the duct and the "mailbox" and use that also. I saw one of Mr. Ts set up where he has the duct wrapped along the smokehouse so I think I will do something similar. That way I can cold smoke and hot smoke in it.

Qview. Color looks good, not deep caramel but I had some clouds roll in that dropped the temperature and messed with the pellets staying lit. I think I might install a little computer fan in the box to keep some constant airflow on the pellets. Planning to build one to stick in the fridge for dry aging beef.
