I've got one of these and it works ok but the low quality pot metal cap broke in two. HF doesn't have any parts for these unfortunately. Are these a common size (as in it'd be possible to order a new cap) or will there not likely be another 'generic' cap that will fit. I'd hate to have to buy another since it's just the cap that it needs.

The other question... before the cap broke, I wanted a courser plate than is provided with the kit. Is there a place that sells such a thing? These plates have 2 dog ears on them unlike most standard grinder plates.

I'd guess these Made In China grinders are similar one to the next. So maybe HF isn't the only one with the same unit.

Not sure about your question, but I would not buy anything at Harbor Freight that I needed to use more than once. Just my humble opinion.

I have picked up grinder plates from Allied Kenco in Houston to fit my generic grinder which is similar to many other grinders sourced in China and badged by "name" companies. They have an online store and I have found them helpful. You could always order a catalog from them.

I am not sure what you mean by "Cap". Perhaps you could describe its function?

Sorry! By cap I mean the end cap that holds each grinding plate in place. It's screwed onto the nose where the product comes out after being ground.

Your grinder is the same as mine which is badged by Panasonic. I cannot see a replacement in the Allied Kenco catalog but it is probably worth an email or phone call to them.  Best of luck.

how about returning it...... your better off getting an exchange than getting your money back with or without a receipt...... They are pretty good here with exchanges. they might give you the part off the display... I would keep on them.. Call corporate if they don't budge. The last thing they want is an unhappy customer... their stores are doing well

Thanks all! I called the main number and expressed some disappointment but since it's been a while (maybe 6 months since purchase), they wouldn't do anything about it. Really a bummer that a cap that probably cost .20 cents to make in China wastes $45. I guess the $45 was wasted when I gave HF my CC number. It actually worked good until now. But I left a review accordingly on their site. At least others will know. I suppose if the unit were babied, it'd probably last a while. I ground a deer and probably 40 lbs of beef roasts and pork through it.
