I took my recently restored kamado-style cast iron cooker camping last week for some great vacation fare. Smoked up a couple of pork roasts for the family. Something about preparing great food just relaxes me; must be my need to feed people about whom I care... I kept it simple: salt, pepper, & brown sugar... Got a late start because the fishing was so great up here: Rubbed everything down while I fired up the smoker... My dad's little smoker/grill/kamdo sure drew a lot of attention around the campground. I got compliments on it from the 2 groups on either side of us! That'll sure make 'ol dad proud! The roasts didn't hit temp until close to 8 pm -- the natives were pretty restless!!! Resting roasts... And the money shot: Moist and tender finish! The BBQ sauce in the pic went untouched -- a high compliment for a pit master, I must say! The meat and the smoke speak for themselves! Thanks for looking!
