Hello all,

My wife bought me a masterbuilt 30" smoker for Christmas and I love it. I am looking at buying another electric smoker in the next 2 weeks and was looking at buying the Traeger Texas Grill. I am new at smoking, just started this past Christmas. I am just wondering if i am making the right choice and feedback would be great.

Thanks in Advance

Daniel

Daniel, the Traeger is one of the smokers/grills that I don't own. from what I know about them, I think you would be very pleased with the results especially if you are already used to the convenience of electric and you like it.

You will have to buy the pellets but I would not think the cost difference over charcoal + chunks/chips would be a huge issue. I am sure that there are Traeger owners who will pop in and be able to give you a more "real-life-experience" answer.

Most Traeger owners that I have met are big traeger fans and I think that says a lot about the workmanship, quality and customer service provided by the company.

Welcome to SMF. There are a lot of very friendly & knowledgeable folks here to help you. I urge you to sign up for the free E-course. It will give you the basics. Then start asking questions. Good luck & glad to have you aboard. I'm sure there will be Traeger owners along shortly to answer your questions.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and info. I signed up for the e-course right after signed up for the forums and started reading it last night. I am going to also buy Jeff's recipe for the sauce and rub before I smoke anything else and try that also. I smoked my first beef brisket saturday night and everyone loved it. I got it alittle to salty but enjoyed it anyways.

Thanks

Daniel

I have never personaly owned a trager unit , although heard rave reviews about them. Don't worry about being new to smoking, as long as you enjoy to cook and try new things, despite what you may hear or read it's difficult to screw up personal satisfaction. GOOD LUCK.
