Building a smoker?

Hi everyone, First time poster, First time builder, first time griller here.

I'm really thinking about building a propane smoker and grill.


I was wondering what would be involved in in building the smoker?


And how much will I be spending for a basic smoker? It's only going to be a 2 burner smoker.

I'm planing on building it from a 55 gallon drum "the standard burn barrel I would purchase so I know it would be safe"


It's going to be stationary and It will have the set up for the trailer as soon as I can buy a trailer for it.




Any tips and tricks? website would be greatly appreciated.

Im not much of a fabricator but heres a place to start looking for ideas .... I think with some of these guys here you may need more info on exactly what your looking to do becuase your talking about a trailer and a 55 gallon drum.... not sure that would be worth doing $$ wise but like I said im no fabricator all though I did build two of my drums myself :P

Actually this article is what I'm looking for, I want to build just a baby smoker, Probably no bigger then I am. I want to be able to build on the cheap and I want to be able to be compatible for trailer travel when I am ready to buy it a trailer.

Yeah If i had room in my driveway for that I woulda built a big baby and im sure people here will have a ton of ideas for mounting it to a trailer

Hi, you might want to do a search on the Smoke Ring forum, Google it, sorry, I don't know how to add links, there have been are a couple of smokers built like you want over there.

Are there some plans for the single 55 gal upright smoker like you have pictured in your driveway?
