Hey, cut out looks a bit on the small side, I'd double check your math.
According to the calculator it needs to be 64sq inches. The way i calculated it without out the curve of the tank it came to 90.  I will try to see if i can come up with a way to come to a closer number. Any advice is helpful RW thank you.

What do you mean "the way i calculated it with out the curve..." ? What diameter is your pipe?

If you haven't seen this already, you can use the calculator at this like to double check your math. Use the radius and segment height ED and adjust the segment height ED until you see the segment area is close to the number needed, which sounds like is 64 sq. in. in your case. Hope this helps.

That is awesome thank you very much. I do need to go bigger. Time to get cutting!!!

Just stand a piece of cardboard against the vertical cut and trace your half moon from inside the tank, subtract whatever thickness your firebox material will be from the straight line. That will now represent your actual opening. Draw a grid with 1 inch squares and then count them out.

Its hard to tell from the angle, but does look better, it usually works out about 1/4 the height, higher on a longer tank.

You just dont want to go too small, id say go about 120% of calculator, the extra 20% wont hurt a thing.

Just did the card board cut out to check the area and i came out to 82 so i should be good right RW.

i did subtract that so i will be ok. Yes i am going to double plate the top i seen the FBs you have built and im in

I mounted the chimney about an inch lower than the top of the CC. I think i will run up to the shop and grab my other welder. The one i am using right now is a clarke 110 volt with flux core. If i grab my other one i should be able to start making the FB tomorrow!!

I started on the grease trap tonight but didnt get to far.  I need to get that mounted so i can start fab on the RF plate. Any ideas on how i should keep the RF plate from the FB opening height wise?

Well I had a coupon for a trailer at harbor freight. Not something i would usually do but for 175 bucks i think it will work. So far i am happy with the some what quality of the trailer. Once i put a deck on it and get the smoker welded in it should stiffen it up quite a bit. I am super excited though i should have TBS soon.
