Hi all,

my first post so hi to you all,

I'm looking at building a UDS (not sure what that stands for) i call it a barrel smoker!!

anyway my point is is there any details about builds?, i am a mechanical engineer and at work i can get barrels for nothing, same goes for ball valves etc, i could make one for nothing but i would like more details,,,,,Where do the ball valves go? what height, what height is the burner basket set at? what height is the grill set at, where do i position a thermometer?

you see i like details/plans that i can look at understand and follow,

Ive been looking but i can find no specific details, any help would be appreciated

regards

lee.

UDS stands for Ugly Drum Smoker but lets be realistic most of the barrel smokers are not ugly.

i did this plan a few moths ago i know its in inches but you being a mechanical engineer im sure you know that 1"=25.4mm

The design above will definitely work. The best part of a UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) is you can build it to fit your needs. There are a lot of build threads on the UDS board here that will give you plenty of ideas.

many thanks guys for the replies, i have started to build a UDS and ill keep you updated on how it goes
