Very new at all this. Recently bought a home and I think it came with a pit smoker. I've searched online for something that resembles it but can't find anything. I need help, I don't know if it works or if the setup is correct. I also need to know how it works. Does the wood go in the middle or on the right?

The compartment on the left was used to store charcoal or wood.

Wow, I really figured you'd have had a comment or 2 by now.

That critter looks to have some potential!  I personally have never used one like that, but I've always wanted to make one!

C'mon brick smoker peeps, help this dude out.

Really nice setup. Your lucky person. Your missing a couple of pieces. You need to get a piece of expanded metal that should fit some offset bricks in the middle section like a shelf. I would aldo get some angle a iron or 3/4 inch rods to hang sausage on. For hot smokes start fire on right side then when burned down shovel coals to middle section and repeat. For sausage just use right side to help keep lower temps. Good luck

Looks to be a very well used smoker.   All you need are some racks and your set to go.   Awesome find!

Hey Pal nice extra to go with the home!

The wood will go on the right side as a "hot" box which burns wood and or charcoal this is an offset smoker.

You may put fire in the center for burgers, brats or chops...small dinner items.

Be sure to get a log rack or similar to keep fire off the floor and check for fresh air intake vents to open or fire will not burn.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SMOKER!
