DS,

What a great idea! I imagine your son was over the moon.

Great job and pass our congrats for his birthday!

Enjoy him while he's there!  They grow up, put on uniforms and are sometimes thousands of mile away (although, both of mine grew up with a Dad that was often on a different continent).

I missed my son's 12th birthday - my family was is Germany, I was in Desert Storm.

Scott thanks for your service!

I try and spend as much time and do as many creative things with my boys that I can. I lost my best friend, my dad when I was fourteen. Everything I learned about the outdoors, wood working, boating, fishing, hiking, back packing  he taught me and I try and pass that knowledge onto my sons. Wish I'd been interested in welding, he was a Master welder and Journeyman electrician.

I should not forget to mention he was a Vietnam Vet too. We proudly fly our flag EVERYDAY for our troops!

Dang nab it man you are killin me!! (oldest turned 12)??? you just gave away your age LOL My oldest is 17 as long as they remember the burger dog - Great job DS from DS

sure looks amazing   I think I'll try it but instead of cutting up the dog I think I'll make the burger by wrapping in around the hot dog and serve It on a hot dog bun

I guess that would make it a dog burger instead. of a burger dog    Thanks for sharing  Great ideas in any event

Burger dogs - fantastic idea! Now you have my gears turning.

Before I saw the pics, I was envisioning an elongated shape of ground beef lying on a huge hogie bun. Now, I'm thinking of making that elongated burger, but with a dog inside, then smoke it and serve on a big hogie bun. Maybe even wrap it in bacon weave. Will report back with pics when I do this.

Thanks for the idea of mixing dogs and burger!

I was surprised by the flavor of the burger area by the dog! Was really good. I think version 2.0 I will cut the dog in half length wise and them again width wise. And then completely surround the dog with burger. This was a visual thing for the kids. But the flavor of the Nathan's beef dog and the hamburger was awesome!
Do you eat them straight down the middle or blindfolded to surprise yourself when you get to some of the dog? LOL  They look real good!

That's why version 2.0 will have the dogs cut halved lengthwise then again width wise so you can have four slabs of dog to cover the burger!
