What is the best way to deal the wood? Linseed oil? Clear outdoor dealer for a deck? I need something that will keep the moisture out of the wood. When it rains it really pickers the wood and has broken 2 boards already... The outside is 1/4 cedar planking..

Linseed oil....    Cedar boards do better when the have but 1 nail in them...   if you nail the left and right side, or top and bottom edge, the expansion and contraction will split the board...  depends how you hang the boards....  horizontal, 1 nail in the top side...  vertical, 1 nail in the center....

I used 1 screw in the center...hanging vertical... I'll use linseed oil.

Is boiled linseed what I need? Would you thin it down or just out it on straight?

I've always thinned it with mineral spirits...  That gets the first coat down into the wood, then it hardens and the second coat is a surface coat..

  6. Fishing plug makers for Linseed 60% and mineral spirits 40% and soak plugs in it and they are waterproof and left to dry before painting. This thinning makes it penetrate very well.

I picked up linseed and mineral spirits. Smoker is getting closer, it will have stainless for the bottom and smoke piped in with a mailbox and amznps. In the future a electric got plate for heat for other things.
