I picked up a couple of butts yesterday for $1.68/pound at the local price chopper. Total weight is about 16 pounds. Rubbed with Kansas City's Cowtown rub (man I love that stuff) and wrapped with saran wrap. They're hanging out in the fridge until tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, I scored them too. First time trying that. Gonna go on the Chargriller at about 6am with some apple and hickory for the flavoring. Gonna spray, not spritz for all the manly men, about every 1 1/2 hours with apple juice/apple cider vinegar mix. Probably foil at 175 and finish in the oven. Picked up some Amber Bock to keep me company. Guess I'm a day

Got my butts going at about 7 this morning. Wanted to start earlier, but last nights beer drinking kept me in bed. I'm 3 hours in to the smoke and the butts are 130 degrees internal. Just got done spraying with apple juice and apple cider vinegar. Everything is going as planned. Except my wife took off with the camera, so I can't post any pics. Don't worry, she'll be home with the camera before I'm done.

Ok, Sorry fellas and gals. I'm finally getting around to posting my results from the two butts I smoked last Saturday. I think my wife was hiding the camera from me.

Anyway, it was kinda a strange smoke because the butts didn't plateau until about the 170 mark. I've never had them plateau at that high of a temp before. I did check my thermos to make sure they were accurate. I had the butts on the Chargriller about 7:00 in the am. Sprayed them with apple juice and apple cider vinegar about every 1 1/2 hours. Because of the high plateau, (I like to foil after the plateau) I didn't foil until the internal temps were 180. Foiled and into the oven around 5:30 pm and hit the 200 mark about 7:30. They amazingly finished at the same time! Also a first. Let them rest a few hours before pulling. Used some of the spray and the collection of butt juice as a finishing sauce. They turned out excellent!
