My name is Marcus.  I just purchased a Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 inch smoker.  Really excited to try this bad boy out.  Should be here in about a week.  I live in a small town in California called Valley Springs.  I'm a network Engineer for a telecommunications company.  I have 3 beautiful children ages 6, 4, and 5 months and an absolutely beautiful wife.  They love BBQ by the way! Really excited to be a part of this forum.  My fav meat is Brisket (can't wait till i smoke my first.)  I appreciate any advice.  Thanks for having me.  You all take care and happy grilling/smoking!!!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome, that isa great smoker u have. I own the 22.5". I am still new to smoking , but my little advice is to make sure u have a log of every cook you do with A LOT of details, keep your rubs simple while u master the actual cook ( perfect flavor wont make up for tough or dry meat) , and lastly , double check the thermometer on your WSM. Mine was off by about 25 degrees . It was high at some times and low at others , on the same cook. Good luck and make sure u show us what u do. Try out some chicken for me, so i can get some tips. Hi, Marcus. The only thing better than smoking is three beautiful children!

I only started smoking last fall and had limited success until I found this forum. There is so much information in the postings. The members are very generous with their experience and have answered all my questions.

I hope you enjoy the forums as much as I have.

Welcome to SMF.
