Ok last nite we did a beer can chicken. Was going to do it on the Weber but did not get it set up so used the old fashion way on the gas grill.

wingrider, that was a smoking chicken I set up a cast iron chip smoker ( on the right) and closed the lid. kept the heat on the right side and had the chicken on the left. Sorry to say i have not used a real smoker yet so i do not know if there is any difference.
I think most of it is in the rub/beer and yes the type of smoke chips.
Cook for about 3 hrs.
Great taste and very moist because of the beer inside and in the pan under.
O yes I found a chicken holder up'er at wal-world with a pan under it and used the excess beer and some of the rub to give the moisture some taste.
Will use new smoker soon and let you know the difference if any.

Looks like a job well done..

Nice looking Beer butts. I was at a party with one of my wifes friend and she actually use a beer bottle instead of a beer can for her chickens. She didn't have a clue what she was doing.

Gotta love the Coors Lite, though I'm more of a fan of regular Coors Banquet Beer... But I see you hiding a Budweiser in that chicken there! Basphemy! Sorry I have a friend who works for Coors, he's kinda made me biased towards the rocky mountain high.

Chicken looks great, bet it was tasty!

Sorry i drink the coors lite but the beer under the chicken was a tecate (Mexico) beer. Could find a good beer (dos xx or?) to put in.
A beer bottle wow i would worry about the glass breaking..
Did it really work, to me it would be to tall no room for the vapor to get out??

Thanks for the comments

Paul

Yea beer bottle idea sounds pretty dangerous... Not going to try that one!

Props on the Tecate, I stand corrected sir...

I used Leinenkugel's Original in the three I did earlier, l really want to try a good Scrumpy Hard Cider that my grocery stocks. Luckily I can use anything I want since the triple rack my friend made has 'built-in cans'.

It's stainless, so it wont rust anytime soon... Not the prettiest, but it's very functional... Gonna be fun to clean, it's bigger than my sink!

Buck Futta, that looks like a great device, boy the party with 3 chix lol.
the strong cider sounds good also. we are thinking of something else also. the cola's are available but cider sound better.
Keep us posted.
Cleaning, pressure hose in back yard ?? lol
