Here is Another Sausage Recipe for Oktoberfest...

Beer Basted Sausage with Caramelized Onions and German Mustard

Germany

8 sausages, such as bratwurst, knackwurst or wieners
4 oz. Oktoberfest beer
2 oz. hot Dusseldorf mustard
3 oz. canola oil
16 oz. yellow onion, peeled, quartered and sliced very thin

Place canola oil in a large nonstick skillet (12-in. diameter) and add the sliced onions. sauté over low heat, stirring often, until onions are golden brown, soft and caramelized. Do not let burn. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and stir in the hot Dusseldorf mustard. Set aside. Prepare a grill, and cook sausages, basting with Oktoberfest beer every minute or so. Serve the grilled sausages with the mustard-seasoned onions.

(Note: you may prefer the traditional sauerkraut, which is delicious when heated with whole brown mustard seeds)

Mmmm That sounds great! Definetly on my list for Octoberfest meals. I love this time of year. Made my german potato salad yesterday and having german smoked sausages today to go with it. I might have to try this. Hmm but it's Sunday and can't buy beer in Mn on Sunday.

Bratwurst, Knackwurst, and sausages of many types is on my list also maybe some sauerkraut and dark mustard to top it off while in the greayt country of Germany. We are traveling to see our grand sons evan who's 1 and ryan whose's 3 monthes. We will be enjoying the country side in the wine country of Germany with hopes of tring to enjoy Octoberfest. So beer your sausages do sound very good and I really like all types of sausage but to go to the land thats makes them famous is great.

While you are there I recommend you try Altenmunster Dark beer.
