I usually stay away from beef ribs. Too much work for so little meat. I smoke beef short ribs instead. Prepare and cook like BBR's; 2-2-1.

    Not worth the meat!! [IMG]

Well, this was a special cut.
But I love Beefies. Try doing them in a mojo marinade, then a modified 3-2-1 as grampy states. I tend to prefer a 4 1/2 hours top time frame....kinda do it to the degree you like your steaks.

I'll naw on them anytime. [IMG]

Beef ribs are some of my favorite ribs out there. I just cann't find them that often and when I did they were really good. Pretty meaty too

Now when I do find them they are all mine and I will buy them all too. I'm just that way.[IMG]

    Beef ribs are AWESOME!
As for the work vs the amount of meat, unfortunately a good majority of places that sell beef ribs sell crap beef ribs that have 3/4 bone to 1/4 meat it seems like and those really are such a waste but if you get lucky and can find some nice meaty beef ribs then life doesn't get much better.
Now don't get me wrong, I love pork ribs but if you offered me a good slab pork ribs compared to a slab of beef ribs I'll take beef any day. LOVE the flavor!

Unfortunately around here 99% of the time the beef ribs I can get are not worth buying so I don't even bother, due to that I have only been able to do them a small handful of times.
Generally I go for a 3-2-1 but adjust as needed.
Oh, and my favorite rub for beef ribs...or pork ribs is chipotle rub [IMG]
    No BBQ sauce needed [IMG]

went to safeway and picked up 2 large rib roast bone in 3.99lb. cut off the ribs and put the roasts in the freezer for later. pretty sweet deal.

I think you pretty much have to go to a local shop and tell them what you want, that is the only way I have found to get some meat on them. The big chains trim them too close

  8. My wife's favorite meat is beef ribs. I had to ask the 'butcher' at the local grocery chain to order them. They came in a 2 pack frozen vacuum sealed bags. they were on sale for $1.39/lb. as others have said, they aren't super meaty from the grocery chains, but I don't know where to find a real butcher shop around my parts. When my wife ordered ribs from Lucille's, the meat was twice as thick as the bones. In these packs they are about even with the bone. They still taste real good. I am going to smoke them up for my wife's birthday at the end of the month. I personally like them better than pork any day, especially if smoked nice and slow making them very tender.

Marinade in Dr Pepper, soy (or beef broth) / worschire sauce.

    Rub with Montreal Steak sauce.

Spray with sauce mix of marinade.

    Cook till preferred doneness.

    Good stuff!

  10. the wal-mart here has them all the time but I have yet to try them..might try a rack on my next smoke

He just copied your pics.  Don't worry, he is not taking credit for your work, just trying to make he point about beef ribs.  I remember that post.  That was some awesome smoke if I remember correctly.
