Beef Ribs SHORT???

    We were at Sams a few weeks ago and saw some Beef short ribs and as I had seen a show or a thread with them in the last few weeks had to have some.

    When I opened them up I found they were cut the rib bones not along like Pork... BOOO??

    Well we went ahead and rubbed them and got ready to Smoke them. As the wind Has been bad here i went for the grill to indirect cook them. Also talked the wife into some ABTs as our first attempt we went on the safe side and got Anaheim and Jalapeno. whipped up some cream cheese and 3 cheese and spices.

    All turned out great as we loved the ABT, the beef ribs had great flavor and were all gone by the end of the meal.

    My old blind eyes can't make it out but i think you said they were cut across the bone???

     We love cross cut beef ribs here . hard to find but when i can i grab them.

     they smoke as good as any beef rib you can buy.

    Yea I keep some of those in the freezer almost all the time. They are just really short beef ribs after all. I do like what you have done with them and you sure do have a good looking grand daughter and helper there. It does look like them ABT's need a little more time in the smoker.

    It is funny that our throwdown theme this month is spuds.  All I was thinking about was seeing the corn & taters.  LOL.  But the ribs looked great.  I still have yet to do ABT's.  Maybe tomorrow on Father's day.

    Those are cut across the shoulder ribs instead of separating them lengthwise and cutting into pieces; they're known as the cut "Flanken".

    Yep, cross cut. Don't much care for beefies cut that way and luckily we rarely see them that way. Seems more like a Country Style beef rib. As long as they are meaty, should be workable, but most I've seen are not. Good job though.

    Saw cross cut beef ribs like this on U-Tube yesterday, made by a Korean Chef. Yours look much better !!!!

    Cute helper too.

    Thanks to all for the information. And the kind remarks for the G. Daughter...

    The ribs taste was good, i was wanting the beef with the bone the long direction BUT!!!

    Work out good, i would buy this again and maybe try a different rub.

    Here is the corn and Taters, The corn is just soft and the taters were with butter inside.

    And yes she eat the whole thing (1 corn)
