After two years of addicted Mini use. I decided to pay her back with an upgrade.
Bbq guru partyq, newer kind. I was worried about the fit on my silver style mini, really didn't want to drill. I had to remove the standard ash tray from the silver, never need it. It installed just like a standard weber kettle. However the unit is too long so I had to sit the mini up on bricks. Then it was off to the races...tested it for two hours with a very small amount of coals.held 225 no problem. Today it is a brisket point..stay tuned!

Good idea with the bricks! I looked at mine and thought there's no way that would clear when installed in the bottom vent, but you solved the problem!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed mine.

I can already tell I will. I am going to debate the drill. If I ever do travel with this do I want to lug around bricks too? Not too sure.

If you do drill, just keep the silicon plug for the adapter. If you want to use it as a grill, just put the plug in and use the bottom vent as normal.
The one concern I'd have with the fan in the bottom would be ash blowing around. The fan is actually fairly powerful and since the ash falls right where it's blowing in, it might be constantly stirring up the ashes.

I purposely left the ash cover i normally use in there which seems to be preventing that. But at this low temp the fan is barely on. Higher temps?? That could be an issue. I wonder if a grease cover for a frying pan with the handle lopped off and placed at the bottom of the pot would help? Would likely melt though? Is there high heat mesh screen?

I did my guru on my mini years ago...hasn't seen one in years but it was a fun experiment.  It worked, nothing wrong with it but for me it was like putting those wings on a street car...just not needed.   Mini always has been a fun little cooker, Glad to see you having fun with yours!

Thanks! I really only wanted to be able to sleep while dreaming of what would be waiting for me in the morn. And I was curious and bored!

Took 10 hours at 225 to hit my mark. It was really good. I had to drop another small chimney of coals at 7 hours. Probably could have waited another hour.
Sorry I ate the plate view before I took a pic.

This device is going to be great! I kept it running at 250 after i pulled the brisket still said it had 60% battery after 13 hours.

Cant wait to try a butt!

Have a smoking Labor day!
