I love to cook and smoke BBQ as well as sides. I've thought about getting into the business with a food cart or truck of some sort. How would I go about getting started? Any advice is appreciated.

Are you self financing? Or planning on applying for small business loans? Check in your local area for small business advice. There are literally 1000;s of websites that can provide advice and directions  to help in making your decision to begin a small business.

Create a business plan with the goals that you wish to achieve in your business.

There are startup expenses to consider including insurance, health permit, business license, seller's permits, cart or truck purchase, food costs are just a few.

If you are going to be selling from a cart, you'll also need to consider the cost of a commercial kitchen for dry/cold storage and food preparation. In some locations, you can find incubator/shared kitchens, rented on an hourly basis, to save some of the costs inherent with maintaining a commercial kitchen.

This is a small list of items to consider before making your decision. Research is your most important tool for the time being.

Good luck with your decision!!
