Well, the wife is out of town this weekend so it is just me and the kids. Time to experiment with something for dinner. Tonight's experiment was bacon cheeseburdoggers.

Got the idea from someone else. Don't remember if it was here or not. I do like to give credit to the original poster when I can remember. I think it was either Wutang or BigRedQ.

Anyway, here are the fixin's.

Here's the ground beef all rolled out in the Ziploc bag, Capt Dan style.

(That works great by the way.)

Lay some cheese and a hot dog down . . .

and roll. Or rather form, smoosh, what ever it takes.

Popped 'em in the fridge to firm up while I lit the drum then back inside to wrap 'em in bacon.

On the drum they go at about 325°.

Here they are flipped after 30 minutes.

After another 20 minutes, I raised the charcoal basket up to the middle rack to crisp up the bacon and render away a little more of the fat.

And finally off the drum at around 165° internal.

Here's dinner for me and the kids . . .

(Did I mention my wife is out of town? And I ain't no nutritionist hence the chips. But we did have some carrots so I got the veggies covered.

Much easier to handle cut in half so here is a cross section.

A regular hot dog bun is a little small for these. A big ol' French roll would have been better. Bacon could have been a little crispier but the kids loved them.

Thanks for looking.

She's not a real huge meat eater though so I end up eating a lot of my experiments myself. I can't see her eating one of these. My 8 year old daughter mowed her's down though.

I knew I saw it somehere but I couldn't remember who did it. Thanks for posting the link. I always like to credit the inventor if I can remember who it was.
