Howdy!

I started smoking on a borrowed Little Chief electric smoker and was hooked.  5 years ago I built my own UDS and got a couple decent smokes out of it, but she was a high maintenance smoker.  Temps were always all over, couldn't keep them steady.  I couldn't walk away from the smoker for more than 45 min or something would go wrong.  Probably more of my skill lacking than a problem with the UDS, but the end result is I got turned off smoking.

Who was I kidding? I can't stay away for long!  After 2 years I mentioned to the wife that I thought a propane smoker would be much easier for me to smoke with.  She told Santa and I just got a MB 30" propane smoker.

I am in NW Ohio, and I found a little wind-free area that will be great for smoking!

Going back to my old forums I found that quite a few of 'non-helpful' people had moved in.  People new to smoking weren't helped, they were kind of bashed.  I decided to find a new forum home.  SMF looks like a great place with great people!

Look forward to seeing all of you around!

Welcome to the board! I know what you mean about nastiness, I was on some Q boards 10+ years ago, and it was awful. People hating other people because of the state they lived in, or because they were any kind of minority, including female. Lots of "You don't know how to do it right" crap. Actual "tell us where you live so me and some buddies can visit" threats. Over food.

Not a whiff of that here.

You won't get any bashing here. Anyone that does is quickly shown the door by the mods. Just make judicious use of the search feature and most of your question will show up already answered for someone else. Don't see any answer, ask away. There are plenty of old pros here that will be glad to help.

Figured I would start it out right with a couple Fatties.  Smoke Q'view is here.

I am thinking ribs next as they are on sale locally and then some whole spatchcock chickens! I am tempted to do a breakfast Fattie to take into work Monday, though!  My goal is to be able to make a good pulled pork and a good brisket.  Have never been able to do that.  Ruined a Boston butt trying on my UDS.
