    I had to try the loin ribs, I allways go with the spares but I had to try these! I marinated over nite with some rub and going on the smoke...[​IMG]

    I prefer the loin ribs my self, I do enjoy cooking and eatin the spares as well, but prefer the back ribs. Yours look wonderful and are making this tired sumb#ch hungry!

    Here it is, loin ribs are Sweeeeeeeet.... Very nice texture, I did a 3-2-1 with pecan![​IMG][​IMG]

    Personally, I like the Baby Back ribs a little better because of the meat to bone ratio.  BUT, where I buy my pork (BJs warehouse store), the BB Ribs are usually about $3.29 per pound and the spare ribs are usually only about $1.69.   At that price difference, I'll buy the cryovac of two racks of spare ribs!

    What I really wonder at is the fact that whole boneless pork loins are usually priced there at $2.39 or so.  That makes the price of the BB ribs seem even more out of line.

    Pork shoulders tend to be $1.39 to $1.69, also cryovac -- two hunks.  At Costco the shoulders cost a little bit more but are boneless.

    I agree Dale, That's why I allways do spares! I can buy 2 racks for the price of one.I guess the BB name sells more, But a nice rack of spares cut (St Louis) style "in the right hands" are very good! As for the shoulder they are around .89 per # here!! Makes a person love those PP sammies!![​IMG]

    What is "St. Louis style"?

    $0.89 per pound!  I am jealous.  I thought that I had a good deal at $1.39 at my BJs or Costco.  IF the regular grocery stores have pork shoulder, it is usually priced much higher than that.   Occasionally, they will have a sale that beats the BJ price, but not often.

    I also like my spares. Now your ribs look great and I'll be traveling across Fla. on I-10 west so how about I stop in for some ribs for the road????? I'll need some nourishment by then. I'll be there about 7:00 ish that's am???

    A 4.5 lb rack of untrimmed spares at $1.69 is $7.60, a 2.25 lb rack of BBs at $3.29 is $7.40 with no trimming and a shorter cook time.

    Just FYI, the local Hannaford Supermarket is selling "All Natural" BB ribs for $8.49 a pound, a price that I am willing to bet is the highest price for BBs in the USA(makes that 2.25 lb rack $19.10). Every time I go in there I go to the rib section just to have a laugh[​IMG]

    Great-looking BB's, raptor!!  I'm curious -- what kind of rub did you use?

    On BB pricing, I've paid up to $5/lb.  I guess they're just more in demand than spares.
     
    St. Louis style = spare ribs with the tips trimmed off.  They cook more evenly and are easier to eat.  Here's a video how-to:

     It's a basic rub, black, red, white pepper with Kosher salt, Paprika, onion and garlic powder, and Turbinado!
     Ft Walton is not far, We will have to swop some recipes  [​IMG]
