I smoked my first baby backs last week and was so pleased I couldn't resist more at $3.79/lb. They'll go in on Sunday. Apple gave a nice flavor but I'm wondering if anyone recommends a different wood for ribs. I have hickory and mesquite which I think might be too strong so I might go with the apple or break open the bag of cherry. Suggestions are welcome.

I do 50/50 hickory and apple, perfect amount of smoke flavor for my family. BBRs are my favorite. Good luck-they're gonna be great! David.

Cherry and pecan are faves for me! You need to find a deal on those ribs I got some the other week for $1.99#. Looking forward to some q-view!!

Be watching, I know you are counting down.

I would use hickory n cherry.

Good luck on your cook.

I ended up having to work...misread my schedule, so they were put on hold until next weekend and in the meantime my girlfriend and I are planning the rest of the meal to make it a feast. Baked beans, greens, jalapeño corn bread and an interesting Amish slaw that goes great on brisket sandwiches. I'm definitely going to go with cherry and coat them with a sauce that's made with this hot honey my brother discovered at The Beer Store.

I just got in from work with these ribs on the brain. Rubbed them and put them in the fridge until noon tomorrow when they go in the smoker. Good eats and photos to follow...

Hickory & Apple, the traditional smoke for pork.

Me, I like pecan so I use it on everything. Only occassional do I deviate from it. I have loads of other available I just like pecan. Mmmmmm..... pecan!

I'm using straight cherry. It's the only one I haven't tried out of the box of four flavors I got along with the smoker. I'm going to order a bag of pecan because I've heard it's great on everything. Peach sounds good as well.
