Hello, I just picked up a ProQ Excel 20 with a stacker and wanted to know if anyone else on here has one. Looking for any tips/tricks that I can get.
Please advise,

Here's a picture of my new baby.
Hoping to fire it up this weekend.

Congrats on the new smoker, looks like you're in for a great smoke.

at the bbqlossal a guy wanted $399 for the 3 door, have the prices come down any? The coolest part is you can use just the top and bottom like a weber

JDT, They're $359 at Fredsmusicandbbq.com.
I was at their store on Saturday for a Brisket cooking class.
I bought a floor model Excel 20 for $199 and a Stacker for $89.
Got a great deal.
I'm really curious to know how others are doing with this unit.
Oh well, guess I gotta through some ribs and fatties on it and find out myself.
I'll post the results, good or bad.

I have a smoker which is almost exact to this one but yours has a lot fancier accessories on it... I love my but for my next smoker I am going to be going to a front loading smoker, hopefully electric...

The only thing I do not like about mine is that I only have 2 cooking racks and the round shape constrics me as to the size of the meat I can put on there...

I got tired of working with the charcorl so I modified my smoker where I cut a hole on the inside of it and secured the base to a turkey fryer. I then took a can that fit snug over the gas burner in the turkey fryer and fed it through the hole in the smoker... The can needed to have a few small holes on the side towards the bottom so air can get still mix with the LP and give you a good flame. I think this mod to my smoker was fairly easy and inexpensive. So far I am very pleased with the mod as well...

Good luck with it as it is a blast to use!

I've got a WSM with a Pro-Q insert. It literally "saved our butt" at the last contest we were in. My main unit requires a power drafter and the power went on/off throughout the night. I loaded all the meat on the WSM with the Pro-Q and just used natural draft. Butt took 6th and brisket 5th.

Pro-Q's are out of the UK. You have a nice unit there.

Thanks Rob.
I've cooked at a comp using 2 WSM's before.
I was really impressed. They were rock solid at keeping the temps.
I'm curious about the ProQ's ability in holding temps.
Or has anyone developed any tricks or techniques in doing so.
