I know this will be offensive for you purists, but I'm REALLY pressed for time this weekend.

Did anyone ever smoke a Boston butt for a few hours, then finish it of in a slow cooker? I'm thinking about 2 1/2 hours of smoke, then 6-7 hours in the slow cooker? Opinions on this? Normally, I'd smoke 'er all the way, but I have a lot going tomorrow.

Don't use a slow cooker or crock pot. Just smoke it first, then stick it ine the oven at 250* until done. Works fine that way, just a bit less smokey.

You could also try the high heat method. Get your cooker up to about 350. Cook the butt for 3 hours, then foil and put back on cooker. After 2 hours, check the temp and take it off when meat gets to 195. Let the butt sit foiled for an hour, and then pull. Great pulled pork in 6 to 7 hours!

Finish it on the smoker..........everything else takes back seat.
