I'll explain.

My brakes were grinding last week and I was able to get it in Friday. The
shop called and said the front brakes were shot and I needed rotors an pads. $235.00 and the back ones were fine at 60% just needed cleaning and adjusting, 35.00. I said go ahead and do it.

When I went to pick it up the gal told me that the mechanic mis read it and I had rivets on the shoes and the rears were shot also. I was about to go besserk when the owner steppped in and said let me explain. He said there are 2 different types of shoes, one with rivets and one that are bonded and the tech got it wrong. He went on to say that he allows no mistakes at his shop and the tech will learn a lesson by installing the new ones for free and he will pay for the parts. Basically I am getting the rears done for free tomorrow.

So I am doing this for their lunch tomorrow.

I have been with this guy for 10 years and he is honest as the day is long.

Big deal I have 12 dollars in the meat and 3 dollars in the buns and am sure everyone will have a good lunch.

It's good to do paybacks.

I did another yesterday I forgot to post.

More to come,I'm using hickory and pecan, thanks Jerry and will foil at 160' before bed and pull in the AM.

Thx for watching, smells great.

Looks great ron, as usual. I remember a post I did a while back called Pulled Pork as currency. You've proven that food should be used as currency. It's surely more valuable than the paper we have now. LOL

Atta boy Ron !!! Since you are a loyal customer this gesture you are giving them will surely get you mechanical favors in the future, maybe even a little side business from the taste testers future requests.

I'm thinkin you owe me for somethin.... don't remember what... I think it was worth some chicken thighs.... or maybe a ribeye.... I know it was something worth like that much.....

Looks Great Ron...

I wonder if after getting this little reward if the mechanics will screw up more often...

Good man Ron, I did something similar for our local independent tire shop. They never charge a lady for filling their tires or plugging a leak, they just do it. First time she went there and they did that, I ordered 3 pizzas to the place to say thanks. They are now my regular go-to place for all things tire related and you can not ask for better service IMHO from any other tire place around here.

I even took some smoked pulled pork to the local dollar store where I buy my serving pans from. The cashier lady was from Georgia and the Carolinas and always talked about how much she missed pulled pork from there. I brought her a gallon freezer bag stuffed full of fresh pulled pork one time and that totally made her day.

Ya know its little things like that that will make that shop owner let things like that slide for you. A little goes a long way kudos to you!

Even though that job could have been done in an afternoon with a few hundo, a sixer and you could have eaten the PP yourself lol.

Great idea Ron. Things like this go a long way towards keeping folks like that continuing to do what they do.

Here it is before foiling last night.

Nice and juicy.

Ready for pulling this AM.

Ready to go.

Got a brake job and oil change for 34.00 plus the above with 24 buns. Good deal.

Good deed Ron, what goes around... comes around.

Thats a nice jester Ron and you don't find to many honest mechanics out there these days either. I know I have been burned a few times tring to find a good mechanic too. You know they will remember you and the food.
