Greetings to all!
What a great forum! ....so I had to join. I'm in SoCal and have been smoking intermittently on a Meco Electric for several years but the bug caught me again just prior to Thanksgiving 08. The Meco works good but is small and doesn't hold temp when wind is blowing (a common occurence in my area). Started looking at other insullated smokers (smokin tex, cookshack, etc) but too costly for me. Considered making one from an old used fridge. Mentioned this to a friend and he happen to have a commerical stainless 2 door that didn't work anymore. This was much bigger than what I needed but he GAVE it to me so spent around $200 to convert it. Tried some pork ribs and a 3 lbs roast last week and a tri-tip and pork boston yesterday. It works very well but will take some "practice" :)
Cheers to all,
JB

Well JB, welcome to the SMF. Looks like you're quite the handyman, and it also looks like it paid off for you and anyone else enjoying your Q. Very nice conversion my friend.
