Just registered to this forum so I figured it would be a great time to introduce myself.
I am here because I was seeking information to point me in the right direction for my smoker build and stumbled upon this totally awesome site/forum.
Upstate NY is where I call home and I am a self-proclaimed "suburban redneck." My major passion is the outdoors especially bow hunting and water fowl hunting. (rockin' a new bowtech this year and loving it) I butcher my deer myself and have an ample supply of venison year round. Most of it ends up being smoked. I may just have to whack an extra deer or 2 this year to dial in the new smokebox!
I have been using an electric brinkman for several years now with pretty good success but am looking to take my meat smoking to the next level. Vertical trash can style smokers just don't have the real estate for large amounts of Jerky.
One of the home renovation projects left me with enough 3/4" maple flooring to construct a 5'+ smoker box. The flooring is the base of my build and she should turn out to be a "looker!"
I am looking forward to taking pictures and documenting my build on this site. Will start a thread once I get everything organized.
Thanks for reading this post!
