Happy Friday Everyone,
First, I know I am just introducing myself, but these forums and you fine folks have already helped me out a great deal with getting started. My name is David and I live in Thornton, CO. I am new to smoking. I started doing my research on Monday (found this site thankfully), bought a Brinkmann Smoke N' Pit Pitmaster charcoal/wood smoker (decently priced side box smoker) from Home Depot ($149).
When I start a hobby, I generally move fast. I am having the family over this Saturday and I'm going to attempt a brisket, pok shoulder, and some pork ribs. I'm trying the methods and recipes that Jeff posted (bought the rub and sauce recipe), although I think I want to try the 3-2-1 method on the ribs. I've heard apple juice is a good thing to add when you foil them up? Also, I've read a lot about the various mods people have made to their smoking rig. For the sake of time, I think I will extend the smoke stack before this Saturday, and try to tackle some of the rest another weekend. Does that sound like the right one to get done first?
Anyhow, thanks for the help you all have indirectly provided me. I hope everyone has a fast Friday at work and a slow weekend of BBQ and family. Take care.
