HELP!!! I have committed the heinous crime of losing my wife's favorite cookbook, the Three Rivers Cookbook with the green cover. I'm pretty sure I threw it out with a huge stack of magazines that I'd gotten sick of looking at. This is the only edition that contains the shortbread recipe that she's been making since she was a child and looks upon as her "thing". I've found other recipes that seem similar or even identical, but she's intent upon finding this exact recipe. It's gotten completely blown out of proportion and it's on the verge of completely ruining Christmas. Yes, it's gotten THAT ridiculous. I committed the second heinous crime of trying to recreate the recipe in an effort to help her, and got the desired cookies. This was viewed as me turning it into a competition and led to tears, accusations and the offending cookies being removed from the premises by me. I'm at my wit's end, so IF ANYONE HAS THE THREE RIVERS COOKBOOK WITH THE GREEN COVER, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY FORWARD ME THE RECIPE!!!

Bummer man.

Yeah, it is a bummer. I'm shamelessly bumping this so it doesn't get lost down the list of new posts. I am a desperate man!!

I hate when that happens to me. my wife loses them all the time on me too since i do all the cooking she thinks its not necessary for all the cook books.

Thanks guys. I wish I had time to order the cookbook, but the cookies need to be made today. It is good to know where I can get a replacement though. I've searched online and can't seem to find that exact recipe.

Dave, that's the closest I've seen. It's from a different edition, but appears to be almost the same recipe. Only difference is powdered sugar vs granulated in the original. We've calmed down around here and the wife has agreed to give it a try. I'm staying as far from the kitchen as possible :)

Hey... glad I could help.... Now you should be able to spend more time on the forum... 2 reasons... the kitchen is off limits and we helped your bride out....

While I do really appreciate the recipe, it isn't the exact one I was asking for. So if anyone has the shortbread from the Second Edition of the Three Rivers cookbook, the one with the green cover I'd be most appreciative. I'm not out of the woods yet.

i realize that it wont help you for Christmas .Amazon.com has both new and used copies of the book you are seeking.
