Hello all, so me and a buddy are seriously contemplating opening a bar that serves jerky in NY state. So say we had 100,000 dollars as an initial investment is that realistic? We would be starting from scratch, does any one have any advise on where to begin?

Probably the best thing you could do is go to culinary school and get a degree in restaraunt management.

Then go out and start your jerky bar.

$100,000 isn't enough. Remodeling a space, outfitting it isn't cheap. Then you really need to have 6-8 months even a years worth of operating expenses in the bank as a buffer prior to opening.

Restaurant management classes would be your place to start.

$500,000 might get you started. It takes a ton of cash to start a restaurant from scratch. As DS said you need at least six months worth of operating costs saved up to make it a go. A year's worth would be much better.
