Everyone, I thought I'd share a recipe my brother-in-law uses with his BBQ that is different than the traditional BBQ/Baked beans most of us use. I think it is an original creation but I may be wrong, anyway we think it is a good change-up. Also I think if you are creative you could tinker with it a little to suit your more specific tastes. I call it "Robert's Beans" after my brother-in-law for the lack of a better name.
Robert's Beans
2 cans Ranch style beans (may use jalapeno with onions flavored)
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 can Black-eyed peas
1 lb. smoked sausage, thinly sliced
1/2 onion, chopped
Add 2 TBS of oil to pot and saute onions till transluscent. Add undrained Ranch style, kidney and black beans along with the sausage to the onions.
Add Chili Powder to taste.
Cook over low heat for 30 min.
Add undrained black-eyed peas, cook anothe 15-20 min. under low heat.
Again, it is a simple recipe and an alternative to the normal BBQ beans. Hope you enjoy. If you "doctor" it up any and like what you did, please share.

Steve
