I think it is almost time for a new grill. So, I was looking for advice and suggestions on what to get. I am looking for something around $200 that will hold temperature well without any modifications (I am not handy). I also would prefer a charcoal grill, not that I have nothing against electric, but I don't want to set a temperature and forget about it. However, as mentioned, I want it to be able to hold a temperature when I get it there. My smoker is a cheaper sfb I have had for about two years now and I have to watch it pretty much the whole time, it also burns a lot of charcoal and longer smokes get rough because the size of the box, with no dump tray, suffocates the fire.

Everyone hear seems to love the WSM. I have read people have had them for years and they still cook great, they are fuel efficient and they hold temperature pretty well without having to tinker on it all day. However, $300 to $400 is a little out of budget for me right now.

Any advice or suggestions would help a lot.

Mr Lederman , for under the $200 you have to spend , I suggest the Brinkman , with some firebrick in the bottom and a little modification , they make a decent Grill/Smoker...

Takes a little care to keep them in shape , but a versitile , more affordable smoker , and under you budget.

    Have fun and ...

Thanks for the reply, Oldschoolbbq. I may just wait and save up for the WSM. Most people seem to like them and if they are as good as they say, it might be worth the investment. I rather buy one grill for the next five years. However, if I get too impatient, I will definitely take a look at the Brinkmann's.

Big Poppas Drum Smoker is your answer! 140 bucks you supply the barrel. The only thing you have to do its drill easy a cave man could do it.
