I am having trouble deciding on a new smoker and in the meantime want to add some cooking space to the one I have.

I am going to add the CB Stacker and plan on adding a second cooking grate to it as well as adding a third grate to the main part of the cooker for a total of 5.

While I realize this will limit my headspace with all the racks in place, I like the option to cook large amounts of ribs as well as being able to throw on appatizers or sides while the main dish is finishing up.

A quick google search left me where I started so I am hoping someone can point me to another user who may have done the same or maybe can point out some flaws in my plan.

Thanks guys!

Hi there.

You can get a rib rack which will fit 4 horizontal and you can stick one slab on each side with wood skewers to smoke 6 possibly 7 at a time on one grate. The other rack you can have for 2 trays then another grate (take two empty 14oz cans on each side and place the grate on top) for your apps. You may have enough room that you may not need a stacker.

Enjoy!!

I'd imagine anything behind the default for the WSM would be problematic and anything behind 3 would be a disaster. Just get the rib racks if you really need more space

I have a rib rack..its not the only thing I want space for.

Why would it be problomatic? I know of people running the CB stacker with no issues so adding that doesn't concern me. Can you elaborate on your concerns?

For the price of all the upgrades, you could pick up a Weber kettel for cooking your sides and apps.  That way you are not killing the heat and smoke by opening up the WSM all the time.
