Based on what I've read from other users here I bought myself a 3/8" gasket and high-temp glue.  In placing the gasket around the edge as a test (without glue), I'm very worried that the door will not close and latch completely.  Am I missing something, such as the gasket will compress more than what I'm seeing?  Or is there something else I should be doing when placing/gluing the gasket around the edge?

Thanks!

Thanks David - I remember reading your post earlier.  Home Depot online didn't have anything smaller than 3/8" as I recall and their self adhesive was 1/2".  As a number of posts I read showed Master Forge owners using 3/8", I thought I should be safe getting it...

I am considering widening the notch on the side where the handle locks to accommodate if it doesn't fit. :-)

I never measured mine but I think it may be less than a 1/4 inch. I got it at a fireplace store.
