I've been lurking this site for awhile always looking to better my bbq. I'm originally from Pensacola, Florida but live in the Ft Bragg, NC area due to my military career with the 82nd Airborne. I suffered a career ending jump injury after my 2nd deployment to Afghanistan and was retired as SSG in 2013, I served 8 years. I married a "native" in 2009 and decided to stay close to my military friends after retiring. We had our first child January 16 of last year, beautiful girl that will surely give me grey hair.

I'm 32 and I enjoy college football (go gators) and mastering anything I cook. I own a charbroil 3 burner infrared, a weber one touch, and a master built electric smoker. I've done everything from 14hour charcoal smokes to crock pot pulled pork. I went electric so my time is spent more with family and not baby sitting Temps and chimney starters. Hope I can learn a bunch now that I plan on being active on this site.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a wet, rainy and chilly day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Redstripe, welcome to the forum and thank you for your service. I also went with a MES to simplify things while I was learning to smoke. Been over a year and still love it! Lots of MES owners here so plenty of advice if you have any questions. Happy smokin', David.
