Several months ago I had a very bad experience with an online seed/gardening company know as heirloomseeds, I won't give the full site address because I would like to avoid any unwilling contact with the site through clicking on a link.
So I ordered several kinds of seeds from this company for the garden this summer, I had received a gift certificate for Christmas. I made my order and waited for my seeds to come.
I waited, and waited, then decided to contact the company.
They claimed they never received my order even though I had the confirmation. I wouldn't have even cared except that they then proceeded to tell me that basically I was screwed. They weren't shipping any more orders until the next season. I explained to them that I had placed my order long ago and that I would be willing to substitute my order for different products I needed if they didn't have any of my original order available, they then told me again that I had to wait till next season to order...
Enough was enough, I requested the money for the gift certificate be returned to the purchaser and that I no longer wanted to deal with their company, they pretty much told me that was too bad, no refunds and I had no other choice but to wait and order next season.
I even explained that they had really screwed up my gardening plans for this year and I was really unhappy with their company and would not recommend them to anyone else, so evidently that was that.
No apology, no anything. They just never responded to me and basically told me (I felt like anyway) to go screw myself and that they didn't care!

I went and ordered seeds from http://www.burpee.com/
and http://www.tomatogrowers.com/
who I am extremely satisfied with, both companies I would highly recommend.
Even Burpee offered to send me free seeds since one pack I had had a few crushed seeds, what a great company!
So I send out a bit of caution to anyone thinking about ordering seeds, stay clear of heirloomseeds because they are not the type of business you would want to deal with.

Over the years, I found Burpee to be one of the best. Also Gurney's.

I have ordered a lot of seeds from Johnny's Seeds and have been very impressed. Lots of varieties with good descriptions.

thanks for the info...I also order from tomatogrowers...good place

We have used heirloom seeds on several occasions and have never had a problem with them and have always found them to be a fast shipper on anything we ordered...

Like any company you probably are one of the few who fell through the crack so to speak, it will happen to someone regardless of what company they use.

This year I ordered some tomatoe plants from 4 Seasons and they finally arrived dead a month after they were ordered. I returned the original shipping label and letter explaining what was wrong according to their customer service on May 5th. I hadn't received replacements by July so I again contacted them and was told their computers were down and to call back later.

It is now August and they say they never received the original request including the required shipping label and now want me to send them my bank statement showing I paid for them with a debit card. I have used this company many times and never had bad luck. So it can happen regardless of the company...
