HELLO FROM THE HIGHPLAINSMOKER,

I AM CONSIDERING BUILDING A SMALL WOOD SMOKEHOUSE APPROX 3'X3'X6' TALL.

I WOULD LIKE TO USE IT FOR COLD  AND HOT SMOKING.

I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS FOR YOU GUYS, SO HERE IT GOES

1. WHAT IS A GOOD THERMOMETER FOR INTERNAL SMOKEHOUSE TEMPS?

2. SHOULD I LINE THE BOTTOM AND UP THE SIDES 18'' FOR PROTECTION FROM BURNER?

3. IS REGULAR FIBERGLASS INSULATION OK TO INSULATE(WOULD BE AS FOLLOWS: PLYWOOD INSIDE- INSULATION- 1X6 SIDING OUTSIDE)

4. IF THERE IS A PLYWOOD LINER ON THE INSIDE IS IT OK TO SEAL THE OUTSIDE LINSEED OIL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT?

ANY HELP,THOUGHTS,ADVICE ON THIS BUILD WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.WHEN I START THIS PROJECT AND IF I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO I WILL POST THE BUILD PICS.THANKS AGAIN I WILL TALK TO YOU SOON THE HIGHPLAINSMOKER

Maverick 732 will show meat and smoker temps

2. SHOULD I LINE THE BOTTOM AND UP THE SIDES 18'' FOR PROTECTION FROM BURNER?

Will it be fired by propane ?? For safety I would line the botttom portion with aluminum flashing and maybe a tile under the burner...

3. IS REGULAR FIBERGLASS INSULATION OK TO INSULATE(WOULD BE AS FOLLOWS: PLYWOOD INSIDE- INSULATION- 1X6 SIDING OUTSIDE)

Probably won't need insulation... I insulated my wood smoker with cardboard sheets... If the wood catches fire, the rest just doesn't matter...

4. IF THERE IS A PLYWOOD LINER ON THE INSIDE IS IT OK TO SEAL THE OUTSIDE LINSEED OIL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT?

Linseed oil has an odor that lingers forever.... I would not use it.... Besides the odor, it is flammable... It will autocombust in the right conditions....
