How much time will it take to get a 6 pound ham to 160 degrees with my smoker at 275?

Yes I`m a newbie. Bought a Masterbuilt electric 30" about two months ago. Made plenty of jerky, smoked salmon, trout, ribs, and turkey drumsticks that my my tore apart for split pea soup, and a wild rice soup. I`m lovin` the smoking as a hobby that provides great tasting food!

Never timed it, I always go by temp of the meat.

I go by temp also. But my wife wants it done at 1pm, so I`m trying to figure out when to start.

Figure on 30 minutes per pound, should be less, but that way there is a CYA pad in case of a problem or an extra cold day. If you are done early, double wrap in foil and a blanket or two, then give it a rest in a cooler. This will keep it warm for an hour or so longer until everything is ready to go...JJ

Thank you Chef JimmyJ,

Seems like very sound advice!!
