55 gallon drum firebox

Discussion in 'Other Builds' started by yankeesmoker77, Sep 30, 2015.

  1. I am starting to build a smoker from a 250 gallon oil tank. Having trouble finding materials to build the firebox. Was thinking about using a 55 gallon drum but am afraid of to much heat loss. Can anyone tell me if they have done this or maybe some other suggestions?

  3. Thanks Bear. My problem is getting my hands on the sheet metal. Not many resources available near me.

I built a double bsrrel smoker using 2 55-gal drums. )One is used as the fire box. I lined the bottom with fire bricks and laid a grate across. The door was made by Vogelzang.

    Cool,

A Buddy of mine has something similar to that, but he uses his for heat.
