Just finished smoking 40lbs of butts, 22lbs of beans and making 10lbs of cole slaw. Wife wanted this for her baby shower.
So of course I said ok... Gave me a reason to take the day off and smoke some meat.

I will post the Q-view later as I am to beat to mess with downloading pics now. It was an 18 hour day.....

Alan, keep us updated on the smoke. i uderstand long day, had driver/driver head on this morning, had to cut both drivers out, took 2 plus hours, both critical but thank goodness no life theat. Relax, enjoy the smoke, and show us the results.
BTW, congrats on the baby shower.

Right about that point you either look at it as a job, or a great time. Sounds like a great time!

That's how I know if I ever get a wagon going, I will not burn out...well, too quick LOL!

That's what I'm talkin' bout....SMOKIN' BUTT and LOTS OF IT.

HHmmm..... wife says--"Honey, my hormones are ragin', as am I at times. Will you PLEEZE stay outside all day and SMOKE meat --while you drink beer."

Husband -- "Err...OK...honey...but I am ONLY doing this for YOU. You KNOW I would much prefer to sit on the couch and look at paint swatches for the babies room, or perhaps, better yet DECIDE UPON WINDOW TREATMENTS!! (SHRUG) BUT....I WILL SMOKE for you....because... I LOVE YOU....(BIG HUG) as BUDWESIER CAN IS CRACKING BEHIND HER BACK....

And now for the rest of the story......

Was feedin' about 36 people. The shower was at 1:00 today so I had to do all the coking yesterday. I recruited a young helper after he got out of school and he stepped and fetched what ever I needed.
Lit the 1st Chimney at 7:00am on the nose. Meat went on at 8:00am. That was 4 butts with an average weight of 10lbs. 1 butt was a bit smaller, 2 were over 11lbs each. Got started on the beans and slaw around noon. The beans went on at about 2:00pm.
Smoked a couple hotdogs wraped in bacon for a little snack. After the beans came off. I put on 2 pizza's nothing fancy, some Digorno's. The dogs and the pizza were great!!!
Foiled the butts at about 170* Pulled from smoker at 195* and into the cooler. Pulled them an hour later. Then back to the smoker with the pork in alum. pans. Wanted to add some more of that god smoke flavor to it.
An hour later all was done.
Total time was 18hrs of smoking/cooking. Start at 7am finish at 1am.
Average smoking temp was 233*
Not bad since it was sleeting for half the day and the outside temp was at or below freezing most of the day.
Ok here is the Q-view.

The set up was done like this ahead of time due to forecast.

The butts before..

Fridge full of butts...

1st chimney..

Around the 3hour mark...

The rest to follow in next post....

The rest of the q-view..

Did not use a finishing sauce for this pan of pork. Some there don't like the vinegar stuff. So I put a little Baby Rays on it.

The grub looks awesome, vinegar sauce wouldn't go around here either! Curious does the Oregon scientific monitor give you the average temp?

Gosh darnit, I ALMOST hate the sight of those ques when I am Hungry.... ALMOST... Really good job... and Congrats on the New Crib Midget..

DS......another awesome job!

Wow...that looks TREMENDOUS...Congrats. and GOOD LUCK.

QUEST ---> ... Does the temp probe thru the wood block give an accurate temp?

It's just a chunk w/ a hole drilled? Regular meat thermo?

I wish it did

.
I had to figure the average temp out myself. Keeping track of everthing through the smoke.
It has been a great thermo though, and the price was right.

Thanks again..
The probe through the wood gives a excellent temp. reading. 1 of the thermo's mounted on the smoker is off. Gotten that way over time.
Used the probe just to make sure everything was right.
It is a chunk of hickory with a hole drilled through it and a regular meat thermo accurite I think I was using on one and a taylor on the other.
