I've tried everything I can think of to get the temp down...even leaving the door cracked. It just won't get down to 225-250. Help please.

First question of many to come I'm certain.

How are you measuring the temperature?  The factory thermometers are WAY off most of the time.

Agree with Mr. Buzzard.  You might want to remove the stock thermometer and do a boiling water test to see what it reads when the water is boiling.  Should be 212* degrees.  You should plan to invest in a separate digital wireless thermometer such as a Maverick  ET 732 or something similar.  If you resolve the thermometer issue, you can then look into installing a needle valve to help cut the temp down.  Do a search under "needle valve".  There are lots of threads.

Thanks for the replies. I never trust the original thermometers. I have two digitals I use on my stick burner. I'll look into the needle valve. Thanks.

Couldn't get mine to stay under 250.....here's my fix:

Closed off 1/2 jet openings with #6 brass screws

Installed LP needle valve

Reduced lower vent opening

Added Green Egg door insulation

Added casters

WHAT A DIFFERENCE.....!
